Important lesson from running

Today when I was discussing running strategy with my fellow runners for upcoming full 42km marathon, there was a common view that one must start with the pace, which can be consistently maintained start to end.
That's actually true and here I can relate it very well with lifestyle strategy. The key lesson is -
If we are going to make any resolution, we should ensure that we adapt only those changes in our lifestyle/habits and only to the extend, which we happily want to keep in long term and can consistently maintain rest of the life. Short term changes cost more than gain.

Efficient use of Mobile phone acts as stress buster

Stress is major cause of most of the Health Problems in today’s time and 70-80% of stress in one’s life is due to bad time management at work & home.

Time management not only in professional life but is equally important in personal life as well. If we efficiently manage small-small personal activities & track them well, we can focus on other important tasks of life & can make life relaxed and joyful. While on the other side not managing things in personal life create stress which we carry at work and in-turn effect at professions. While it is observed in general people have stress of small-small things like forgetting to make credit card payments on time and paying late charges, making special effort to make various bill payments like specially travelling to waiting in queue to make payment, banking work or other small-small activities.

If we really plan well by use of technologies and mobile phone we can manage & track various personal activities and can make better use of our time. Considering these it is sensible to invest some money in buying smart cell phone, which provides best of technologies uses and in an internet services plan.

Sometime back my use of Mobile phone was restricted to calling, sms, camera & music but now I am managing various things of my life by using my mobile phone and internet services.
I use android phone as it has very good integration and compatibility with google services like gtalk, gmail, google map, Picasa, google docs, blogspot etc. While I have good fixed amount plan of internet services from Vodafone

Uses of mobile applications/services

1. Calendar Application – I make good use of Calendar application to schedule & track my personal activities and task; whenever I think of some task due I immediately feed in calendar and set required alert/alarm, so that it is not missed. I regular watch my mobile phone calendar

2. Banking/Billing – I normally do online banking and make various transactions & bill payments using internet even some of the bank provide mobile banking application/services. In today’s world normally most of the services we use provide online bill payment facilities like Insurance premium, Electricity, Telephone, Mobile phone, MGL service, Credit card etc. To avoid payment failure and late payment charges I have registered most of the services with direct debit banking, so that payment is done automatically on due date. I receive most of the bills thru email so they are accessible to me, whenever I want to refer them. The Bill I don’t receive thru email I click the snap of them and save on my cell phone collection’s or google docs. The bill which I have to track manually I schedule them on my mobile phone calendar. Still to make sure cheque book is handy to me I keep one at home and one in car.

3. Gmail – I operate my personal emails from mobile phone, as this is push mail facility I have immediate access on my incoming email.

4. GTalk – This allow me to talk to personal and business contacts worldwide & I am accessible to them most of the time.

5. Pop3 Mail application – This service I use to access my work/business emails. This is also push mail application and allows instance access on my work emails.

6. Camera – I use camera not only for Clicking pictures of good moments but I also take the picture of documents and notices to be referred later, notice boards, hoardings etc. All important clicks I upload on Picasa album, Google docs or on social networking site respectively. Even I click picture of Menu card of nice nearby restaurant, which provides home delivery services or take order on phone to make sure whenever I have to order the food menu is handy to me.

7. Voice Recorder – I use this application to record important communications. It acted as life saver for someone when I was helping someone to handle some conflicts in his personal life. I took an intelligent call and record respective interactions. This can be important at various instance of life if you are aware and know how to use quickly.

8. Dictionary Application – Whenever I come across any word’s when its meaning is not clear or known to me, I quickly find out with the help of dictionary application. It is very handy and I don’t have put any effort in carrying, maintaining & finding a big dictionary book all the time.

9. Note Everything – Wow I love this application. It’s like a notepad and allows me to make notes in plain text. I use this to make small notes and maintain a to-do list.

10. Stop Watch & Timer – I can check the performance of various time based activities. I use this specially to motivate my son, when he is given some task. My son was slow in writing I used this trick and had put stop watch in front of him, he took this as a game and tried to write fast and in short period I observed improvement in his writing speed. While this I also use during work-out.

11. Google Docs –

  • I normally keep my all important documents get scanned & uploaded on Google docs, so that they are handy whenever and wherever I want them. I use this application to access those documents and passing thru email to respective party. Such documents can be your important certificates, mark sheets, passport & license copy etc

  • Whenever I come across some important document and feel this would be required later I click this by using my mobile camera and store there. I also document important information and store it on google docs to be referred later. This important information can be some reference number, bank account number, membership number, important addresses – which we most of the time keep forgetting and when we want them it is not easily available to us.

12. Easy Filter – This allows me to block and filter unwanted calls and messages, people are normally not aware of such application and always get bothered by unwanted calls

13. Latitude – This indeed is a very good application and helps you in navigation and let you know your location, while you driving or travelling. This not only provides your location but also lets you know in which direction on what speed you are going. You even can share this information with other on internet to let them locate and track you.

14. Google Search application - Yeah this has frequent use whenever I need to search on internet. I say every dam information is available on internet and searchable, that’s why people love search engine.

15. News & Weather – To quick access on local news and weather condition

16. Social Networking sites - Facebook, Linked-in, twitter I am active on all of them but mostly on facebook

17. Other regular applications – Calculator, FM Radio, Music & Video, Games, Address Book/Contact information, Alarm etc - like most of the people I use them. While it is good idea to make use of incoming ring tone wisely. You can set contacts in groups like important, general etc and set a different ring tone. So to make sure when you are middle of something can avoid less important calls and any call from important person is not missed. I really call this Ringtone management

18. New application downloads – There are number of applications available for different purposes, whenever I feel like to have something else I look on internet and download relevant application from authorized websites.

So in short efficient use of mobile has made life much easier, I can do various activities and tasks wherever I am and can make good use of idle time.

A very Happy Holi 2011

Holi aaye holi aaye
Rang birangi holi aaye
Tarah tarah k rangoo se rangne
dekho phir se holi aaye ..

Lal, gulal, hara, nila
Har dukaan pe hai rangoo ka mela
Main to laal rang leke
tumare gaalon ko rang lagane chala.....

Holi to bas ek bahana hai rangoo ka
Ye tyohaar to hai aapas main
Dosti or Pyar badhane ka,
chalo sare gile sikwe dooe kar ke
ek dusre ko khub rang lagate hain.
milkar holi manate hain......

Holi ka rang to dhul jayega
dosti or pyar ka rang na dhul payega
Yehi to aasli rang hai zindegi ke
Jitna ranglo utna gehera hota jayega.......

i wish u a verry happy holi

How do I utilize my time?

The question have been asked to me by many of my friends that how I manage to get time for my blogs, while I am in IT which itself is a very hectic profession and having two small kids..
The surprise for them - I am currently doing my MBA also :) & doing well there and other then that I keep updating my professional skills
Such things even motivate me

Even sometime I thought how I really managed time for everything as I am not really following some gr8 time management policy or funda

To be very frank I don't follow any hard and fast rules or timetable.... but only I take instant decision to utilize my spare time whenever I get
and having involved in multiple thing I can decide well where should I spend my time as per the situation and requirement

Just to give few tips here

Like when I am writing this article.... I have actually dropped my son to his weekend activity class and instead of going back and coming back to pick him up I better decided to wait outside....
I originally wanted to sit in my car and study my MBA book but its hot outside.... I see a cyber cafe.... on opposite side of the street - so I liked the idea of sitting in cybercafe do some timepass.... and here an article got ready

Mostly that is my simple approach
Like when I am traveling and not driving my self I either spend time on reading my books, drafting a thought in my brain or word document, which I put on blog as soon as I get opportunity
... sometime I go with the priority also.. like when my office schedule is very hectic I might give no-time or very less time to other activity....same is the case when this is my exams period.... but I keep switching priorities along with time & situation.... and this helps me to allocate good time to all activities

I am not sure if this will really any helpful for you

New Non Veg restaurant (Midland Rest & Bar) in Ghansoli

Midland Restaurant & Bar is opened in Ghansoli, Navi Mumbai
Before that there were few good veg restaurants to go for meal with family like Rama Krishna & newly opened Gandharva
But there was no Non veg restaurant and bar
I normally go for dinner with family & friends to the following places

1. Spice Resto Bar in Koper Khairane near Teen Tanki, a good and economical place
Meal - Good
Service - V. Good
Premises - Good

2. Navi Mumbai Merchant Gym Khana Club, Vashi
Meal - Good
Service - Ok
Premises - Ok

Saturday I visited Midland along with my wife. Being very new restaurant there were few gaps in service but place is nice, good interior, separate place for family and Meal is good. price wise also that is economical. I look as a new place very near to my home to have a dinner out with family.
Location - Manoshi Complex, Opp Ghansoli Railway Station, Sector-3, Ghansoli (West), Navi Mumbai
